CMS Streamlines Meaningful Use Hardship Exception Process
Doctors seeking hardship exceptions from the Medicare meaningful use program benefit from a new, streamlined application process resulting from AOA-backed year-end Medicare legislation. Doctors must submit an application by March 15, 2016 to apply for an exception. Applications and instructions for a hardship exception from the 2017 payment adjustment are to be found here. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced recently its reformed hardship application process that effectively reduces the amount of information that doctors must submit in order to apply for an exception. These changes are the result of the Patient Access and Medicare Protection Act (PAMPA) - based on policies AOA has long advocated. |
