The Rice University study published in the journal Psychoneuroendocrinology, conducted a health questionnaire and then took blood samples from the study’s 1,500 participants. The blood samples were tested for the latent herpes virus and other inflammation, which would not produce obvious symptoms. The study found that those who reported not feeling healthy were high on the virus and inflammation scales, while those who said they were feeling healthy had low levels.
