Being a member of the California Optometric Association is about setting the standard in eye care.

Give voice. Create change. Achieve goals. Ensure the future.

These are the possibilities when you join over 2,600 colleagues to help shape your profession.

Membership in the California Optometric Association lets your colleagues, associates, and patients know that you belong to an organization subscribing to the highest standards of professional ethics, conduct and practices. Furthermore it acknowledges your special distinction with other members in working towards the advancement of optometry and in assuring that comprehensive vision care services provided by doctors of optometry are accessible to the public.

Tripartite Membership
In addition to state representation, COA membership is your gateway to membership at the local and the national levels. Once you apply to COA, you will also be affiliated with the American Optometric Association, and with a local society in the area that you practice.

Join COA’s Low Vision Rehabilitation Section
At the COA House of Delegates in January, a unanimous vote of a Bylaws Amendment created the Low Vision Rehabilitation Section (LVRS). The mission of the LVRS is to promote the unique care that optometrists provide through education. LVRS also intends to publicize the type of optometric services available to patients to improve their functional vision and adaptive abilities in performing daily activities.

Members of this Section must be members in good standing of COA. Annual dues for the section are $50 for COA members and $25 for student members.
